Fuel Discounts in Australia — Every Program Compared

Australia's motoring clubs and fuel loyalty programs offer per-litre discounts that add up to real money over a year of driving. This page compares the major programs, what they're worth, and where they apply.

Petrol Australia supports all of the programs below in-app: enrol once and the map shows your effective (discounted) price at every participating station, so you compare your real cost — not the sticker price.

All programs require the relevant club or loyalty membership — enrolment in the app tells Petrol Australia which discounts to apply to your prices; it doesn't replace the membership card at the pump.

What is a fuel discount actually worth?

A 4c/L discount on a 50-litre tank saves $2 per fill. Fill weekly and that's roughly $100 a year — from one card. A 10c/L discount like RAA's is worth around $5 a tank, or $250+ a year for a weekly filler.

The bigger win is stacking a discount on top of the price cycle: filling at the bottom of the weekly cycle can save 20c/L or more in the big east-coast cities, and your member discount comes off that already-low price. See Petrol price cycle.

Why compare discounted prices, not pump prices?

A station offering your 4c/L discount isn't automatically cheaper than the independent across the road. Petrol Australia handles this by comparing effective prices — pump price minus your enrolled discounts — across every station on the map. Sometimes the discount wins; sometimes the undiscounted station is still cheaper. The map tells you which, every time. See How we calculate savings.
