Guide
Notifications & Quiet Hours
Petrol Australia sends push notifications based on the petrol price cycle — the predictable weekly pattern where prices drop then spike. These are different from price alerts (which watch a specific station). Cycle notifications watch the broader market in your area.
Requires: Home location set + push notification permission granted on your device.
Enabling notifications
- Open Profile tab
- Tap Notifications
- Toggle Price-cycle alerts ON
- Grant OS permission if prompted
If your device has blocked notification permissions, a warning appears. Tap it to open iOS Settings → Petrol Australia → Notifications → Allow.
The three notification types
Each can be toggled on or off independently.
Drop incoming
Sent 2–4 days before the cycle bottom. Prices are still elevated but heading down — this is the heads-up to hold off filling up if your tank isn't urgent.
When you get it: Typically Monday–Tuesday in most capital cities (cycle usually troughs mid-week).
Buy now (cycle low)
Sent when local prices have bottomed out. This is the best fill-up window.
When you get it: The day or two the cycle hits its lowest point.
Top up before rise
Sent when prices start climbing back up. Last chance to catch a low price before the next spike.
When you get it: Usually before the weekly Thursday–Friday price hike.
Quiet hours
No notifications are sent during your quiet hours window.
- Default: 9 PM to 7 AM
- Minimum window: 1 hour
- Format: 24-hour internally, displayed as 12-hour AM/PM
To change quiet hours:
- Profile → Notifications
- Tap From and To dropdowns
- Select new times
- Changes save automatically
Notification radius
Also found in the Notifications sheet. This is the same radius as your home location radius — one shared setting. Adjusting it here also changes the widget radius.
