Guide
Getting Started with Petrol Australia
Petrol Australia works straight away — open it and you'll see live fuel prices on a map near you. A quick three-step setup the first time makes those prices more relevant to you, and you can change any of it later.
You don't need an account to look
The map, list, station details, and insights all work without signing in. Creating a free account unlocks the personal features — favourites, price alerts, your vehicle, your home area, and the home screen widget.
The three-step setup
When you first open the app, you'll be walked through three quick steps. Each one is optional and changeable later.
1. Where's home?
Tap Use my current location to centre the app on your area, or skip it for now. Setting a home area lets the app sort stations by distance from where you actually fill up. You can set or change this any time in Profile → Preferences → Home location.
2. Which fuel do you use?
Pick the fuel you run — ULP (91), E10, PULP (95), 98 RON, Diesel, LPG, or E85. The app then shows prices for that fuel first, everywhere. Change it any time in Profile → Preferences → Preferred fuel, or tap the fuel selector on the map.
3. Price drop alerts?
Choose Yes, alert me to get a push when prices fall, or Not now. You can turn alerts on or off later in Profile → Preferences → Notifications.
